Lawley is proud to announce the addition of Pat Kenney to the Lawley Business Insurance team as an insurance advisor and in-house counsel.

As in-house counsel, Kenney will provide legal advice to Lawley on an array of issues including insurance coverage and defense matters. He also evaluates and counsels Lawley clients in connection with disputed claims submitted to their insurers. As an Insurance Advisor, Kenney will prospect, solicit, quote, and consult for new business and personal insurance accounts. Kenney will work closely with account managers to review clients’ policy expirations, endorsements, claims, audits, and cancellations.

Kenney specializes in general liability insurance, business insurance, cyber liability insurance, and E&O insurance coverage litigation.

After graduating from DePaul University College of Law, Kenney worked as an associate attorney at large national and international law firms located in Chicago. In New York, he worked for a well-respected regional firm as an associate and partner in the firm’s coverage group. Kenney’s practice in Illinois and New York focused on insurance coverage and extracontractual bad faith litigation where he was experienced in all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts. Kenney also counseled insurer and policyholder clients on insurance issues and provided in-depth analysis of various liability and first-party property coverage policies, including Business General Liability, Business Property, Professional Liability, Cyber Liability, Homeowners, and Builder’s Risk.

Kenney is now a member of the Claims Litigation and Management Alliance (CLM). He is a graduate of Canisius College where he obtained his BA. In law school, Kenney received CALI Awards for Excellence in Civil Litigation Strategy and Trial Advocacy II. As an undergraduate, he played Division I Hockey and was a member of the All-Academic Team. Outside of Lawley, Kenney volunteers to give free legal advice to elderly and low income clients of Prairie State Legal Services (Chicago, IL). He is also a member of Next Generation United at the United Way.

“We are proud to bring Pat Kenney onboard. His expertise in insurance litigation is crucial to the growth of our firm. He is a talented individual and will be an asset to our team of advisors,” says Mike Lawley, Principal.
