BUFFALO, N.Y. (August 12th, 2019) | Lawley partnered with the Hamburg and Depew High Schools’ Academy of Finance Programs to provide 4 juniors a glimpse into a variety of careers by hosting a four hour job-shadow event on Monday August 12, 2019.

Job-shadow days give students the opportunity to learn about a variety of career choices at local businesses as they engage in work-based-learning programs. Work-based learning marries what students are learning in class with how it will be applied in the working world. The concept produces a seamless transition between initial learning, application, and practical execution.

Participating Academy of Finance students spend time with professional mentors, engage in mock-interviews, research a variety of careers and then explore those careers through job shadows. Each of these activities is designed to prepare students for a high quality 120-hour paid internship before high school graduation.

At the conclusion of the program, students possess superior college and career readiness.  They become better leaders and decision makers with their heightened awareness of their potential futures. A local, regional and national partnership works in support of the students to match the requirements of today’s workforce with classroom learning materials, ultimately providing students with exceptional opportunities and resources to become successful adults.
