As a Partner, Matt specializes in captive insurance, construction,
and petroleum transportation & distribution.

Experience:

Prior to Lawley, Matt was President of Shoff Darby Companies and founded Shoff Darby’s captive insurance practice, developing insurance and risk management programs for the construction, transportation, and petroleum sectors. He also served as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army, giving him valuable technical and operational insight that strengthens his work advising clients on safety and risk management. Matt joined Lawley when Shoff Darby Companies merged with Lawley in 2023.

Accreditations:

Matt holds a Life, Accident, & Health license, a Property & Casualty license, and an Excess & Surplus Lines license. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.
