healthy super bowl recipes

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the worst days for eating healthy and sticking to New Year’s resolutions. But it doesn’t have to be! Enjoy the game, and commercials, with some tasty snacks by following some of these tips below, and you won’t get a foul for cheating on your New Year’s goals:

  • Put healthy foods on your roster. If you are hosting, YOU can choose what foods to serve and ask your guests to being healthier options or use substitutes for unhealthy ingredients
  • Eat a snack before arriving to the party – this way you won’t overeat or tackle the fattier foods
  • Blitz the veggie tray
  • Take small portions of the snacks in order to taste them; if larger portions are on your plate, you will be more tempted to eat them
  • Healthy snacks are also tasty snacks! Even if something looks different to you or not what you would normally eat, still try it and chances are you will like it
  • Offer a veggie pizza option
  • Prepare the oh-so-popular chicken wing dip healthier with substitutes such as Neufchatel cheese instead of cream cheese, shredded lean chicken breast, light or homemade blue cheese dressing and vegetables or whole wheat crackers for dipping
  • Don’t get a penalty for drinking too much beer. Limit your beverages, especially if you are driving, and stick with light beer or use water or seltzer as a mixer
  • Instead of fattening dips with a lot of cheese, serve fresh salsa, hummus and guacamole
